With so many aspects of the world feeling a little unsettled these days, having stable, reliable employment can bring a sense of security and comfort. Recently, Erin came into the Maricopa County ARIZONA@WORK office in the Wickenburg Library looking at the job opportunities posted each week. There Erin met the Workforce Development Coordinator.
It wasn’t long before Erin shared that she was really interested in advancing her career as a customer service professional. Erin felt that she had transferrable skills that would help her be successful in the service industry. She easily connects with customers interpersonally and had experience quickly solving problems.
The Workforce Development Coordinator noted that she saw an opportunity for Erin to apply her customer service skills to a public-facing role with a local hospitality business. Hospitality is a large part of the Arizona economy, so there were plenty of opportunities available. Erin just needed the opportunity to meet with a career coach to talk through her career goals and then identify what other aspects she was looking for in her next opportunity.
Even though Erin walked into the Library to browse the job postings, she actually walked away with a personalized career plan with a whole new set of opportunities for her career direction.
“I came into the library looking for assistance to find a new career,” said Erin. “I got the job at Wickenburg Ranch- a full-time position as a Membership Coordinator. It is a perfect position for me, and it goes beyond all things I was hoping for.”
