Veterans Court

The Maricopa County Superior Court Veterans Court is an interagency collaborative effort focused on veterans in the criminal justice system. The court is a “problem-solving” court that works in conjunction with prosecutors, defense attorneys, veteran mentors, and the Veterans Administration to give each participant the best chance of getting back on track as healthy, productive veteran and Maricopa County citizen.

Hearings, which are guided by principles of working together to provide the necessary services to tackle complex issues while adhering to a court process that addresses recovery, resiliency and rehabilitation, are conducted once a week for veterans that meet certain eligibility requirements. Recording DD214

Maricopa County Recorder's Office records the DD214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty for veterans. By recording your DD214, you are ensured that if something happens to the original, you may obtain a certified copy at any time. Once your DD214 is recorded, obtaining a certified copy is a simple process which can be initiated by completed the necessary request form.

You can visit the Recorder's Office website to download the Military Discharge Public Records Request Form. Once it is filled out, signed and notarized, send it by mail or physically bring it to the downtown Phoenix or Mesa location. This service is provided by the Recorder's Office free of charge and includes five certified copies.

Law for Veterans

Law for Veterans is a one-stop clearinghouse for access to legal and other important veteran benefit information sponsored by the Arizona Supreme Court, the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education, and the State Bar of Arizona and its Military Legal Assistance Committee. The site features ten specialty subject areas ranging from identity theft to employment law. There are sections with helpful Q&A topics as well as a place to ask legal questions, find a lawyer or locate other resources veterans might need. More than 270 legal professionals have volunteered to respond to questions and help match veterans with the resources they need.
