Funding Overview

Welcome to Maricopa County’s 12% Gaming Grant website. In November of 2002, voters passed Proposition 202 allowing gaming compacts between the State of Arizona and Native American tribes. The Proposition requires tribes to share 12% of their revenue for government services, including public safety, mitigation of the impacts of gaming, economic development, education, transportation, and health services (A.R.S. § 5-601.02).

Although each tribe has different processes and due dates, all tribes require support from a local government as outlined in tribal gaming compact. For Maricopa County, this means a resolution of support from the Board of Supervisors. A resolution can be required prior to submitting an application or at receipt of awarded funds. Each tribe has individual grant processes that may differ from one another. Maricopa County currently participates with the following tribes- Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, Gila River Indian Community, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, and Tohono O’odham Nation. Maricopa County uses Fluid Review to manage the Proposition 202 grant application workflow process. All applicant documentation should be submitted via Fluid Review and Maricopa County provides all coversheets and resolutions via Fluid Review.
